A visit to Chris' block

Saturday, August 4, 2018

Last weekend we went for a visit to Chris' bush block near Spencer, on the Hawkesbury River.

Chris is one one of the first friends Robin made when he came to Australia and although they met painting, Chris has spent a lot of time making big sculptures out of scrap metal.  So his shed was a treasure trove to the kids with all sorts of amazing finds.  There is also some amazing caves with the most beautiful sandstone colours and shapes.

We took Charlie's friend Alban with us and had a wonderful mini-break away from suburban life.  I was prepared for the cold, but it was relatively mild - we didn't use nearly as many blankets and jumpers as I had packed!

Lots of photos follow, but they are pretty self-explanatory.

To me this looked like a baby in the womb

This is a lyrebird's nest high in a cave, safe from snakes and goannas

The girls managed to get around on this tricycle - not very fast though!
