Garden stuff

When I started this blog I had thought it would be a way to help me keep track of what goes on in the garden ... it hasn't really happened.

However, here are a few snapshots of the garden before it got completely burnt out in the full summer heat.  I have since pulled out all most of what has gone to seed (intending to keep the flower seeds), done lots of weeding and planted some more flowers, bok choy, silverbeet, cherry tomatoes and kale and carrots (just to use up the seeds - don't think it's really the right time for the last two).

We have been away for a week and the weeds/grass is growing back with a vengeance, but bok choy has sprouted, as have the cherry tomatoes and the silverbeet is soldiering on even though I think something is nibbling on it.

I planted lots of sunflowers this year - this is one of the Giant Russians

Our bantam girls

Beautiful looking tomatoes which always get infested with fruit fly - so it's only cherry tomatoes from now on

Jennifer caught in the act!  But she's so cute in there.

This is "Little-Old-Lady", our smallest bantam - she hatched some fertile eggs we bought, but unfortunately all have been taken by cats or crows.
