Low Tide and Rockpools

Sunday, May 6, 2018

This term the girls and I have been studying rockpools and life at the seashore.  Last week low tide was in the middle of the day and on a beautiful day we headed down to see what we could find.

It was right at low tide so we were able to head right out over the rock platform and see pools we hadn't been to before.

We found all the different types of shells we have been learning about and watched them move about; recognised different types of seaweeds; and spotted all the other life you find in rockpools - crabs, anemones, dead fish, baby fish, giant sea slug, crayfish (dead).

Here's Callum experiencing a natural "spa" pool.

And Ciaran finding the crayfish.
